About the book
Dream On CJ is a tribute book to my son Cajari Jayce Fagan.
Losing him after 11 days in the NICU was a pain beyond belief. Not being able to find a way to honor his memory was becoming painful as well; especially while trying to heal. Keeping my son’s memory alive was the main focus when I started writing. Slowly, ‘Dream On CJ’ grew into a book that not only uplifts our youth, promotes confidence, and having a big imagination, but it also gives our young Kings and Queens a character they can relate with in literature.
My 2nd Son loves to read, but it was a struggle to find books that had characters that looked like him. Some of his favorite books have animals, trucks, and trains but when it comes to books with young protagonists of color - The choices were slim. I was lucky to team up with Illustrator Brian Mcgee who brought my vision to life with his amazing artwork.
‘Dream On CJ’ is full of color, positivity and power, and I am excited to finally share it with you.
